Seating: 39, VIP seats: 3) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Lanny Gilmore got the match started through his kick off. Santos FC's Warren Ruiz managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Colby Saucedo in the 2 minute of the game. Hal Mackey showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lanny Gilmore, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. After having played for 7 minutes, Terence Nicholas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Santos FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Terence Nicholas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Lanny Gilmore sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Hal Mackey stood somewhat misplaced when Tyron Velasquez came free in front of goal and shot 1-0 to the left of him in the 12 minute. Lanny Gilmore who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 14thth minute tested the skills of Hal Mackey when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 16th minute of the game Colby Saucedo made a throw-in which Lionel Egan played forward. An unexpectedly hard shot by Garry Conn in the 22nd minute of play forced Santos FC's goalkeeper Aaron Smallwood to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Aaron Smallwood took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Emmanuel Corley, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Western Springs FC's Hal Mackey proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 30th minute of the match, managed to save Western Springs FC from getting a goal against them. Terence Nicholas received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Hal Mackey came out and tried to block the shot, but Terence Nicholas slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 30th minute. In the 33rd minute Lanny Gilmore shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hal Mackey saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Garry Conn charged in rather forcefully in the 34th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Garry Conn the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Lanny Gilmore in the 35th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Hal Mackey prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 36th minute Santos FC were awarded a corner. Warren Ruiz went to the cornerflag to take it. A hard shot 38 in the game by Lanny Gilmore from a close distance when the talented Hal Mackey managed to make a qualified save. Western Springs FC's players were relieved. Lanny Gilmore did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 3-0 to the left of a surprised Hal Mackey 38 minutes into the match. Lanny Gilmores short, quick shot in the 42ndth minute got Hal Mackey to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The corner ended in Warren Ruiz almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Western Springs FC's Hal Mackey did a great save. A collision led to Santos FC getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Tory Weeks hit a great ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-0.
The audience was convinced that Lanny Gilmore's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hal Mackey was relentless in the 52nd minute of the game. In the 53rd minute of the match Santos FC got a corner. Western Springs FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Warren Ruiz ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Santos FC's Warren Ruiz to fire away a dangerous shot which Hal Mackey despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Santos FC's Aaron Smallwood played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Garry Conn in the 57th minute of play. Aaron Smallwood made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Frankie Russell in the 62nd minute of play. The supporters of Western Springs FC booed when Santos FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dominic Albright didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience was convinced that Kerry McDonald's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Aaron Smallwood was relentless in the 68th minute of the game. Kerry McDonald in the 68thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Aaron Smallwood, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lanny Gilmore in the 70th minute of play forced Western Springs FC's goalkeeper Hal Mackey to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 70th minute Lanny Gilmore shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Hal Mackey saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 72 minutes of play, Santos FC's Lanny Gilmore made it 4-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Hal Mackey was left in no man's land by his defense there! Lanny Gilmore scored 5-0 in the 76th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Hal Mackey, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Hal Mackey took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lanny Gilmore, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 88thth minute of the game Lanny Gilmore who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Western Springs FC's Hal Mackey was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Frankie Russell received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 89th minute. Aaron Smallwood tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
