In the 10th minute, João Dante left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Charles Town fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. 14 minutes into the game, Jaques Van Mellaert was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Charlotte FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Charles Town the free kick. The supporters of Charles Town booed when Charlotte FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jaques Van Mellaert didn't get a good kick on the ball. Adam Mukengechay could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 23rd minute of the match, but Bryant Miles made a huge save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jaques Van Mellaert in the 26th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tyrone Fowler saved Charles Town from getting behind. Bryant Miles took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from João Dante, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Charlotte FC's Antoine Hankins got a free kick in the 90th minute. There was no doubt that Charles Town were the better team. Charles Town's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
