After a rather tough play, El Canalla de Chicago's Claude Mueller got a free kick in the 11th minute. Elliot Whitley might have been able to make a better finish in the 13th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Wilbur Hyde. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Elliot Whitley ran back to his position shaking his head. Jospeh McNally made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Domingo Lopez in the 15th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in El Canalla de Chicago's zone, Jonas Cole stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wilbur Hyde came out of the goal and Jonas Cole tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to El Canalla de Chicago getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Hugo Hubbard hit a great ball. In the 19th minute Trenton Long shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilbur Hyde saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jonas Cole sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Jospeh McNally showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Domingo Lopez in the 25th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Gerardo Beard's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Wilbur Hyde was relentless in the 27th minute of the game. Brooklyn SC's Jospeh McNally played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Domingo Lopez in the 29th minute of play. A sloppy throw-in by Stacy McDonough in the 33rd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by El Canalla de Chicago's Emmanuel Lockhart. El Canalla de Chicago's Domingo Lopez was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Jospeh McNally in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 36th minute of the match, Joaquim Vilar got a very nice opportunity to score, but Jospeh McNally was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Domingo Lopez in the 37th minute of play forced Brooklyn SC's goalkeeper Jospeh McNally to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jospeh McNally showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Domingo Lopez in the 38th minute of the match. Wilbur Hyde took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dwight Schrute, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 44th match minute, El Canalla de Chicago was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wilfred Noel to maneuver through the defense. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When Jonas Cole came up free with the goalie in the 85th minute, the Brooklyn SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jonas Cole couldn't finish the play. In the 90th minute Brooklyn SC were awarded a corner. Jonas Cole went to the cornerflag to take it. El Canalla de Chicago's attentive Emmanuel Lockhart managed to snatch the ball when Rickey Ewing made a throw-in in the 94th minute of the game.
