Keenan Lusk fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 16th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Lind having to interfere. Diego Thorne's late challenge caught a São Paulo Futebol Clube's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Diego Thorne helped the player get up and apologised. Drew Shultz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Len Springer, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. Deon Shelton kicked well hit freekick during the 28th minute of the match. Keenan Lusk sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Kyle Whitmore fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Drew Shultz having to interfere. After 41 played minutes Grosse Pointe Farms got a freekick which was hit by Louie Lefler.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Len Springer to strike the kick off in the second half. Len Springer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Drew Shultz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jordan Moses was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 58 minutes into the match. The referee gave São Paulo Futebol Clube a penalty, 61 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Keenan Lusk, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Grosse Pointe Farms's Benito Lind. 1-1. The supporters of Grosse Pointe Farms booed when São Paulo Futebol Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Frank Atwood didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gordon Haas succeeded in the game's 67th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-2. Mel Ford hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, São Paulo Futebol Clube's Mel Ford got a free kick in the 76th minute. If Louie Lefler had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Drew Shultz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Kyle Whitmore went, in the 80th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. Drew Shultz came out of the goal in the 83rd minute to try and stop a shot by Grosse Pointe Farms's Louie Lefler. But to his dismay, Louie Lefler quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-2. São Paulo Futebol Clube's Drew Shultz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Louie Lefler in the 86th minute of play. Kyle Whitmore sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. São Paulo Futebol Clube's Drew Shultz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Thanh Rhoades in the 96th minute of play. Thanh Rhoades took the ball and in the 96 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Drew Shultz. Drew Shultz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-3. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Grosse Pointe Farms fully deserved thier win.
