Preston Winston recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 5th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 9th minute, Rickey Sanderson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rodolfo Cordero in the 11th minute of play forced São Paulo Futebol Clube's goalkeeper Drew Shultz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Boyd Donnelly made an important save on a dangerous shot by Keenan Lusk in the 13th minute. Jude Blankenship scored 0-1 in the 15th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Drew Shultz, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. São Paulo Futebol Clube's Drew Shultz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rodolfo Cordero in the 18th minute of play. Drew Shultz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rodolfo Cordero in the 19th minute of the match. After 21 played minutes São Paulo Futebol Clube got a freekick which was hit by Frank Atwood. The audience was convinced that Shayne Cagle's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Drew Shultz was relentless in the 24th minute of the game. With a little luck, Waterbury Rangers's Boyd Donnelly got control of the ball when Keenan Lusk tried to sneak it across the goal line. Drew Shultz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Preston Winston in the 32nd minute of play. In the 34th minute Shayne Cagle shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Drew Shultz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 35 played minutes São Paulo Futebol Clube got a freekick which was hit by Jamar Stuart. Frank Atwood hit a great freekick 38 minutes into the match. Drew Shultz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Shayne Cagle went, in the 42nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. When Alan Santana fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored São Paulo Futebol Clube's protests and gave Alan Santana a yellow card for diving instead. D.J. Bannister kicked well hit freekick during the 46th minute of the match. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Shayne Cagle to strike the kick off in the second half. Jude Blankenship could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 52nd minute of the match, but Drew Shultz made a huge save. Shayne Cagle fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Drew Shultz having to interfere. In the 57th minute of the match Waterbury Rangers got a corner. São Paulo Futebol Clube's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Ryan Esparza ran over to the corner to take the kick. The supporters of São Paulo Futebol Clube booed when Waterbury Rangers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alfonso Buck didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Waterbury Rangers getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Domingo Wells hit a great ball. 61 minutes into the match, Waterbury Rangers's goal looked a bit too open when Gordon Haas came free, but Boyd Donnelly reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. São Paulo Futebol Clube's Drew Shultz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Troy Rangel in the 65th minute of play. Alan Santana hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. 66 minutes into the game, Rodolfo Cordero cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-3. Drew Shultz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Drew Shultz made a fantastic save in the 72nd minute, when Shayne Cagle sent off a good shot on target. Preston Winston fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Drew Shultz having to interfere. When Preston Winston came up free with the goalie in the 76th minute, the Waterbury Rangers fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Preston Winston couldn't finish the play. São Paulo Futebol Clube made a substitution. Nick Vazquez replaced Gordon Haas. 89 minutes into the match, São Paulo Futebol Clube's goalkeeper Drew Shultz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Shayne Cagle. Troy Rangel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 92nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Drew Shultz came out of the goal in the 94th minute to try and stop a shot by Waterbury Rangers's Shayne Cagle. But to his dismay, Shayne Cagle quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-5. When the final whistle sounded Waterbury Rangers left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than São Paulo Futebol Clube.
