Seating: 2369, VIP seats: 206) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Ivaylo Yordanov took the kick off in the first half of the match. Giannis Antetokounmpo made in the 9th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Tomás Ortzi. If Moisés Álvares had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 15th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Antero Linhares stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jonatan Bilintx's shot from short distance in the 22nd minute. Giannis Antetokounmpo got a throw-in 23 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Giannis Antetokounmpo. After 28 minutes of play, U21 Portugal's Ivaylo Yordanov made it 2-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Paulo Oliveiro was left in no man's land by his defense there! A collision led to U21 Portugal getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Albertino Leão hit a great ball. Jonatan Bilintx's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Antero Linhares read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 35th minute of play. Ivaylo Yordanov might have been able to make a better finish in the 37th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Paulo Oliveiro. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ivaylo Yordanov ran back to his position shaking his head. 37 minutes into the match, U21 Portugal's Ivaylo Yordanov sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Paulo Oliveiro narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Paulo Oliveiro was a little too slow when Ivaylo Yordanov got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 40th minute. The score was now 3-0. Walery Domeradzki's late challenge caught a U21 Portugal's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Walery Domeradzki helped the player get up and apologised. Paulo Oliveiro didn't succeed in stopping the ball in the 46th minute, which inside left pole to 4-0. Af the end of the first half the score was 4-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
U21 Portugal made a substitution. Fernando Couto replaced Adam George. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Tomás Ortzi made a kick off. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Normando Macena during the 53rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Normando Macena hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. In the 56th minute of the match, Jonatan Bilintx got a very nice opportunity to score, but Antero Linhares was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Machado Assis struck a weak shot in the 59th minute. Paulo Oliveiro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for U21 Portugal. U21 Portugal's Machado Assis managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Giannis Antetokounmpo in the 61 minute of the game. U21 Portugal's Antero Linhares played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomás Ortzi in the 64th minute of play. Paulo Oliveiro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ivaylo Yordanov, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Emanuel Mourinho during the 66th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Emanuel Mourinho hit a great freekick 67 minutes into the match. Ivaylo Yordanov took the ball and in the 71 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Paulo Oliveiro. Paulo Oliveiro dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-0. When U21 Portugal's Ivaylo Yordanov in the 75th minute got a chance for a shot 75th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye U21 Mexico's goalie prevented a goal. U21 Portugal made a substitution. Ricardo Vasques replaced Moisés Álvares. After 77 minutes U21 Mexico's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Normando Macena who took care of the corner kick. The corner first didn't look so dangerous but when Ricardo Vasques got the ball he succeeded in some way to get through the defenders to deliver a very hard score. Result 6-0. 77 minutes into the match. U21 Portugal made a substitution. Xavier Carvalhal replaced Ivaylo Yordanov. An unexpectedly hard shot by Xavier Carvalhal in the 83rd minute of play forced U21 Mexico's goalkeeper Paulo Oliveiro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match had gone on for 88 minutes, Xavier Carvalhal put it in 7-0 from a short distance just to the right of Paulo Oliveiro. Xavier Carvalhal scored 8-0 in the 92nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Paulo Oliveiro, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. A sloppy throw-in by Ovidio Pabla in the 97th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by U21 Portugal's Emanuel Mourinho. U21 Portugal's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
