Through an outstanding action, after 15 minutes, Hermínio Silva successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Vila Zumbi were furious when Adelino Sarmento was red carded, 18 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In the 18th minute, one of Vila Zumbi:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Vila Zumbi. Vila Zumbi:s Hermínio Silva showed great skill when he stopped João Francisco Mota:s penalty. 20 minutes into the match, João Francisco Mota had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Hermínio Silva. Vila Zumbi's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that João Francisco Mota was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. Hermínio Silva showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hernani Lira, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. Hílton de Brito fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Enio Pinho having to interfere. Hermínio Silva took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Severino Quintal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
