Willian de Alcântara took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lauro Sergipano, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Willian de Alcântara came out of the goal in the 8th minute to try and stop a shot by CE LAJEADENSE RS's Lauro Sergipano. But to his dismay, Lauro Sergipano quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Paulão Negri showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Germano Romero in the 11th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Germano Romero got free with Paulão Negri in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Cléber de Souza fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored CE LAJEADENSE RS's protests and gave Cléber de Souza a yellow card for diving instead. After 20 played minutes CE LAJEADENSE RS got a freekick which was hit by Cléber de Souza. A collision led to THESPA KUSATSU GUNMA getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Henrique Nóbrega hit a great ball. 29 minutes into the match, CE LAJEADENSE RS's goal looked a bit too open when Agnaldo Diniz came free, but Paulão Negri reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Paulão Negri made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Agnaldo Diniz in the 29th minute of play. 31 minutes into the match, CE LAJEADENSE RS's goalkeeper Paulão Negri had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Eliézer Paraense. CE LAJEADENSE RS's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Agnaldo Diniz ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on THESPA KUSATSU GUNMA's corner Agnaldo Diniz fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Paulão Negri quite easily take care of the ball. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 32nd minute of the game. One of CE LAJEADENSE RS:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of THESPA KUSATSU GUNMA:s goal. Paulão Negri had in the 33rdth minute some difficulties stopping Germano Romero's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Agnaldo Diniz's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Paulão Negri firmly grabbed it by the left post. Paulão Negri showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Agnaldo Diniz in the 43rd minute of the match. Angelo Mattos could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 46th minute of the match, but Paulão Negri made a huge save. Mário Leme charged in rather forcefully in the 48th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Mário Leme the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, CE LAJEADENSE RS's Mário Leme got a free kick in the 48th minute. In the 49th minute Germano Romero shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paulão Negri saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Germano Romero made a kick off. Mário Leme was shown his second yellow card after 55 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After 65 played minutes, THESPA KUSATSU GUNMA's Agnaldo Diniz shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Paulão Negri came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. In the 75th minute Germano Romero shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paulão Negri saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Agnaldo Diniz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Paulão Negri having to interfere. Lauro Sergipano's late challenge caught a THESPA KUSATSU GUNMA's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Lauro Sergipano helped the player get up and apologised. Lauro Sergipano hit a great freekick 97 minutes into the match. CE LAJEADENSE RS were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over THESPA KUSATSU GUNMA's much stronger midfield.
