FC Lugano's Max Sevier played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fabián Haste in the 21st minute of play. After 24 played minutes FC Lugano got a freekick which was hit by Maximilian Buser. After 26 played minutes ꉓꍏꋪꉣꂦꀸꋪꂦꂵꂦ got a freekick which was hit by Franco Borel. Tito Waechter struck a weak shot in the 27th minute. Alfonso Cauli didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Lugano. After 29 played minutes ꉓꍏꋪꉣꂦꀸꋪꂦꂵꂦ got a freekick which was hit by Fabián Haste. When FC Lugano's Tiziano Gamache in the 30th minute got a chance for a shot 30th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. After 44 minutes, Stephen Witschard mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Lugano and the ꉓꍏꋪꉣꂦꀸꋪꂦꂵꂦ players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 45th minute of the match Diego Combi shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Max Sevier showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Stephen Witschard got his second yellow card in the match during the 55th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. A collision led to FC Lugano getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Stephen Witschard hit a great ball. FC Lugano's Gauthier Lepre was substituted for Tiziano Gamache. Max Sevier took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fraj Shibalkin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Tito Waechter's late challenge caught a ꉓꍏꋪꉣꂦꀸꋪꂦꂵꂦ's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tito Waechter helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of ꉓꍏꋪꉣꂦꀸꋪꂦꂵꂦ booed when FC Lugano was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tito Waechter didn't get a good kick on the ball. ꉓꍏꋪꉣꂦꀸꋪꂦꂵꂦ's Armin Ciarrocchi was substituted for Edmondo Oriali. A collision led to FC Lugano getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Tito Waechter hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 82nd minute, Fraj Shibalkin managed to get in a good position for a shot. ꉓꍏꋪꉣꂦꀸꋪꂦꂵꂦ's supporters rose to their feet, but Fraj Shibalkin was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Max Sevier breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Florian Diederich received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Alfonso Cauli tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 90 minutes into the match, ꉓꍏꋪꉣꂦꀸꋪꂦꂵꂦ's Fraj Shibalkin broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Fabián Haste in the 98thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Max Sevier, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save.

FC Lugano's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
