The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Tim Johnstone came out of the goal in the 2nd minute to try and stop a shot by Mayo's Idacio Ballejos. But to his dismay, Idacio Ballejos quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 6th minute, Benji Murray hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 23rd minute Ionuț Mureșan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wieslaw Kasprzak saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gareth Scholes struck a weak shot in the 24th minute. Tim Johnstone didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mayo. Ionuț Mureșan blasted a shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Wieslaw Kasprzak having to make a save. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ionuț Mureșan in the 29th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Wieslaw Kasprzak saved Mayo from getting behind. In the 29thth minute of the game Ionuț Mureșan who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Mayo's Wieslaw Kasprzak was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Wieslaw Kasprzak showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ionuț Mureșan, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Mayo's Wieslaw Kasprzak played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Benji Murray in the 33rd minute of play. 37 minutes into the match, Mayo's goalkeeper Wieslaw Kasprzak had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tyrone Meehan. Mayo's Wieslaw Kasprzak played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Benji Murray in the 43rd minute of play. Wieslaw Kasprzak made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Piers Goacher in the 48th minute of play. After the first half Mayo were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

After 51 minutes, Dave Joy mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the The Tigers and the Mayo players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 51 played minutes The Tigers got a freekick which was hit by Dave Joy. With a little luck, The Tigers's Tim Johnstone got control of the ball when Gareth Scholes tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 64 played minutes Mayo got a freekick which was hit by Daryl Hammett. A collision led to Mayo getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Daryl Hammett hit a great ball. Mayo's Wieslaw Kasprzak played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Benji Murray in the 66th minute of play. Wieslaw Kasprzak made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jonatan Fredericksen in the 69th minute of play. In the 73rd minute, Gonzalo Montiel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 75 minutes into the match, Mayo's goal looked a bit too open when Rio Blewitt came free, but Wieslaw Kasprzak reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Tigers were awarded a corner in the 76th minute after Mayo's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Rio Blewitt took the corner. The corner led The Tigers's Rio Blewitt to fire away a dangerous shot which Wieslaw Kasprzak despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Gareth Scholes during the 77th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. A hard shot 82 in the game by Gareth Scholes from a close distance when the talented Tim Johnstone managed to make a qualified save. The Tigers's players were relieved. 88 minutes into the match, The Tigers's goal looked a bit too open when Idacio Ballejos came free, but Tim Johnstone reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Tim Johnstone made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Idacio Ballejos in the 93rd minute of play. Phillip Haywood kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. When the final whistle went the supporters of Mayo were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant The Tigers side.
