The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Lazaros Pispinis fell near the penalty area in the 4th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Panionios MK's protests and gave Lazaros Pispinis a yellow card for diving instead. In the 4th match minute, Panionios MK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lazaros Pispinis to maneuver through the defense. Andreas Daskalakis hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. Menios Moschogiannis was out of position in the 6 minute of play, and Lazaros Pispinis capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Lazaros Pispinis really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. 10 minutes into the match, Panionios MK's goal looked a bit too open when Fondas Papagiannoulis came free, but Manos Partalakis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 14th match minute, Panionios MK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sofoklis Stergiatos to maneuver through the defense. If Lazaros Pispinis had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Stamatis Giotas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manos Partalakis having to interfere. 31 minutes into the match, AFC Ajax's goalkeeper Menios Moschogiannis had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Giorgos Kalabokis. Manos Partalakis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Andreas Daskalakis, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. 37 minutes into the match, AFC Ajax's goal looked a bit too open when Charilaos Kalokerinos came free, but Menios Moschogiannis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Menios Moschogiannis didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Eleftherios Karaveris went, in the 40th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-0 was the resulting score. AFC Ajax's Menios Moschogiannis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Charilaos Kalokerinos in the 44th minute of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 4-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Andreas Daskalakis made a kick off. Andreas Daskalakis struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Manos Partalakis didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for AFC Ajax. 54 minutes into the match, Lazaros Pispinis notched a goal, 5-0, to the right of AFC Ajax's Menios Moschogiannis. Menios Moschogiannis was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Charilaos Kalokerinos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 59 minutes into the match, Panionios MK's goalkeeper Manos Partalakis had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Andreas Daskalakis. 59 minutes into the game, Andreas Daskalakis recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Manos Partalakis. Andreas Daskalakis showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 5-1. When the match clock showed 68 minutes, the score became 6-1 when Giorgos Kalabokis sped through AFC Ajax's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Menios Moschogiannis. 74 minutes into the game, Pavlos Samaris was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. AFC Ajax's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Panionios MK the free kick. Pavlos Samaris kicked well hit freekick during the 74th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 75th minute, Giorgos Kalabokis managed to get in a good position for a shot. Panionios MK's supporters rose to their feet, but Giorgos Kalabokis was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Menios Moschogiannis breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Menios Moschogiannis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Giorgos Kalabokis in the 80th minute of the match. With a little luck, Panionios MK's Manos Partalakis got control of the ball when Fondas Papagiannoulis tried to sneak it across the goal line. AFC Ajax's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Stamatis Giotas in the 88th minute. After 89 minutes, Giorgos Kalabokis mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Panionios MK and the AFC Ajax players grew even worse after the yellow card. After having played for 91 minutes, Giorgos Kalabokis managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Panionios MK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Giorgos Kalabokis was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Panionios MK had played much better football throughout.
