Erkan Fostiropoulos took the ball and in the 25 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jacob Kobel. Jacob Kobel dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. The supporters of Spandauer Rain Kings booed when Rot-Weiss-Essen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. In the 47th minute of the match Heiko Schmeisser sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Uwe Ziege skillfully saved the ball. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Erkan Fostiropoulos made a kick off. Rot-Weiss-Essen's Ebbo Böse was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 52nd play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. After 61 played minutes Spandauer Rain Kings got a freekick which was hit by Mike Westrich. When Ebbo Böse came up free with the goalie in the 62nd minute, the Rot-Weiss-Essen fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ebbo Böse couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Rot-Weiss-Essen booed when Spandauer Rain Kings was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jens Brendlin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jacob Kobel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Erkan Fostiropoulos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 70 played minutes Erkan Fostiropoulos rounded Spandauer Rain Kings's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-3. Ebbo Böse's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jacob Kobel read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 73rd minute of play. After 74 minutes, Heiko Schmeisser mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Spandauer Rain Kings and the Rot-Weiss-Essen players grew even worse after the yellow card. Erkan Fostiropoulos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jacob Kobel having to interfere. 77 minutes into the match, Vasco Jackisch had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jacob Kobel. Spandauer Rain Kings's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Vasco Jackisch was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-4. The supporters of Rot-Weiss-Essen booed when Spandauer Rain Kings was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kuno Zellier didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Spandauer Rain Kings's zone, Erkan Fostiropoulos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jacob Kobel came out of the goal and Erkan Fostiropoulos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Through an outstanding action, after 88 minutes, Jacob Kobel successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. During the 89th minute of the match Heiko Schmeisser completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Heiko Schmeisser a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. When Elmar Assing, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 92 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Jacob Kobel was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. 94 minutes into the match, Xavi Haberer dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Jacob Kobel, 1-5. The Rot-Weiss-Essen supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Rot-Weiss-Essen would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
