The supporters of Rot-Weiss-Essen booed when Spandauer Rain Kings was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Heiko Schmeisser didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 12th minute, Erkan Fostiropoulos ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jacob Kobel was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. After 16 minutes, Jens Brendlin mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Spandauer Rain Kings and the Rot-Weiss-Essen players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Spandauer Rain Kings getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Jens Brendlin hit a great ball. Elmar Assing came free with the goalkeeper in the 19th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Jacob Kobel could save by the left post. In the 23rd minute, Erkan Fostiropoulos got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Rot-Weiss-Essen's Erkan Fostiropoulos was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 25th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Kuno Zellier kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. After 35 minutes of play, Rot-Weiss-Essen's Ebbo Böse made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jacob Kobel was left in no man's land by his defense there! Jacob Kobel was out of position in the 39 minute of play, and Erkan Fostiropoulos capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Erkan Fostiropoulos really showed his touch with that goal: 4-0. In the 41st minute, Xavi Haberer reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Jacob Kobel. The goal made the score 5-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Elmar Assing got free with Jacob Kobel in the 45th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 5-0.

Xavi Haberer might have been able to make a better finish in the 51st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jacob Kobel. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Xavi Haberer ran back to his position shaking his head. Jacob Kobel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Elmar Assing, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Heiko Schmeisser took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 52nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Uwe Ziege. Rot-Weiss-Essen's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Jacob Kobel stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Elmar Assing's shot from short distance in the 56th minute. 57 minutes into the game, Rot-Weiss-Essen's Ebbo Böse nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jacob Kobel made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 6-0. 62 minutes into the game, Ebbo Böse cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 7-0. Jacob Kobel was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a rather tough play, Rot-Weiss-Essen's Xavi Haberer got a free kick in the 76th minute. Rot-Weiss-Essen's Ebbo Böse got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Erkan Fostiropoulos kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Erkan Fostiropoulos in the 88th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jacob Kobel prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 90 minutes of play, Rot-Weiss-Essen's Elmar Assing made it 8-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jacob Kobel was left in no man's land by his defense there! After 94 played minutes Rot-Weiss-Essen got a freekick which was hit by Helmut Malinowski. Rot-Weiss-Essen were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest. They thanked the players of Spandauer Rain Kings for a fine match.
