The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Gigel Rânceanu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Victor Piţurcă in the 3rd minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Emerald's Victor Piţurcă slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Gigel Rânceanu. That made the score 1-0 after 5 minutes of play. Victor Piţurcă received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Gigel Rânceanu came out and tried to block the shot, but Victor Piţurcă slotted it home off the left post making it 2-0 in the 12th minute. In the 17th minute, Emerald's Victor Piţurcă dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 3-0. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 20th minute of the game. One of Fotbal Club Vaslui:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Emerald:s goal. When the match had been going on for 22 minutes, Emerald's Victor Piţurcă got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Gigel Rânceanu. Victor Piţurcă might have been able to make a better finish in the 27th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gigel Rânceanu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Victor Piţurcă ran back to his position shaking his head. Gigel Rânceanu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Victor Piţurcă, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. 28 minutes into the match, Fotbal Club Vaslui's goal looked a bit too open when Victor Piţurcă came free, but Gigel Rânceanu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 29th match minute, Fotbal Club Vaslui was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Víglundur von der Schulenburg to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the Fotbal Club Vaslui defense, Victor Piţurcă kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gigel Rânceanu. The Fotbal Club Vaslui fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gigel Rânceanu should have stopped the shot. Victor Piţurcă might have been able to make a better finish in the 47th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Gigel Rânceanu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Gigel Rânceanu was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 69th minute, Victor Piţurcă left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Emerald fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 13-0. Victor Piţurcă received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Emerald's attack was well implemented in the 78th minute, but when Victor Piţurcă was about to shoot he didn't get a good hit on the ball and it hit the crossbar and flew over. Goal Kick. Gigel Rânceanu came out of the goal in the 79th minute to try and stop a shot by Emerald's Gabriel Vermeşan. But to his dismay, Gabriel Vermeşan quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 14-0. Gigel Rânceanu didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Victor Piţurcă went, in the 82nd minute, to the upper right corner, 15-0 was the resulting score. In the 86th minute, Ferdinand Condrea left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Emerald fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 16-0. In the 92nd minute, Victor Piţurcă ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gigel Rânceanu was frozen by the shot and now it was 17-0. After 96 minutes of play, Emerald's Victor Piţurcă made it 18-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gigel Rânceanu was left in no man's land by his defense there! Emerald's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
