A collision led to New York Red Bulls getting a freekick after 4 minutes play. Maxim Necșulescu hit a great ball. Eduardo Pereyra took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Silviu Şoimu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Liviu Bărănescu in the 9th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Eliodor Buciu prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Eduardo Pereyra made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vintilă Ticulescu in the 13th minute of play. Eliodor Buciu made a fantastic save in the 16th minute, when Traian Tatomir sent off a good shot on target. Eduardo Pereyra made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cornel Rada in the 21st minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Silviu Şoimu in the 22nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Eduardo Pereyra saved New York Red Bulls from getting behind. 24 minutes into the match, New York Red Bulls's goal looked a bit too open when Silviu Şoimu came free, but Eduardo Pereyra reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Eduardo Pereyra made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Silviu Şoimu in the 27th minute of play. Eliodor Buciu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Marin Emilianu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 30 minutes in the game, Marin Emilianu fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Eliodor Buciu having to interfere. Eduardo Pereyra showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Silviu Şoimu, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. Remus Bercea charged in rather forcefully in the 39th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Remus Bercea the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of YR☆Bald Eagle™ booed when New York Red Bulls was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Remus Bercea didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 39th minute, George Trifan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Silviu Şoimu made the kick off in the second half. Eduardo Pereyra showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cornel Rada in the 55th minute of the match. 58 minutes into the game, New York Red Bulls's Marian Balint nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Eliodor Buciu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. In the 63rd minute Silviu Şoimu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eduardo Pereyra saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 74th minute Marin Emilianu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eliodor Buciu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Cornel Rada fell near the penalty area in the 75th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored YR☆Bald Eagle™'s protests and gave Cornel Rada a yellow card for diving instead. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Ivan Goșa helped the player get up and apologised. In the 95th minute, Ivan Goșa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. New York Red Bulls were really happy, having secured the victory after a very even contest.
