The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Emilian Ferenț took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sebastian Condrea, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Rasnita fans' excitement grew in the 5th match minute when Rasnita's Gheorghe Stoiciu looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After 11 played minutes F.C.DrobetA-Știința- got a freekick which was hit by João Carlos Bezerra. 12 minutes into the match, F.C.DrobetA-Știința-'s goalkeeper Emilian Ferenț had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Iosif Doicaru. The supporters of F.C.DrobetA-Știința- booed when Rasnita was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gheorghe Stoiciu didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Vic Alexander fell near the penalty area in the 20th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored F.C.DrobetA-Știința-'s protests and gave Vic Alexander a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Rasnita booed when F.C.DrobetA-Știința- was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Vic Alexander didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 21st minute Gheorghe Stoiciu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emilian Ferenț saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rasnita were awarded a corner in the 25th minute after F.C.DrobetA-Știința-'s defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Paul Ene took the corner. Manuel Hogaș made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mariano Pavone in the 35th minute of play. When Valeriu Jula came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the Rasnita fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Valeriu Jula couldn't finish the play. A collision led to F.C.DrobetA-Știința- getting a freekick after 39 minutes play. Sever Vrabie hit a great ball. Iosif Doicaru sent away a hard shot on goal in the 48th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when João Carlos Bezerra stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gheorghe Stoiciu in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Emilian Ferenț saved F.C.DrobetA-Știința- from getting behind. Emilian Ferenț showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Valeriu Jula, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. In the 59th minute Iosif Doicaru shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Emilian Ferenț saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Valeriu Jula during the 62nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 62nd minute, Valeriu Jula hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Rasnita's zone, Mariano Pavone stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Manuel Hogaș came out of the goal and Mariano Pavone tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Emilian Ferenț made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sebastian Condrea in the 73rd minute of play. 74 minutes into the match, Gheorghe Stoiciu had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Emilian Ferenț. F.C.DrobetA-Știința-'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gheorghe Stoiciu was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. When Rasnita's Gheorghe Stoiciu in the 78th minute got a chance for a shot 78th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie.
