After a rather tough play, Erdélyi SE Marosvásárhely's Gigel Hogaș got a free kick in the 12th minute. 13 minutes into the game, Dacian Cernea was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Erdélyi SE Marosvásárhely's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave FC Vlahuță the free kick. In the 13th minute, Dacian Cernea hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Ionuț Petrea recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Mihai Rusu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Virgil Cumpan in the 17th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Erdélyi SE Marosvásárhely's Octav Dordea got a free kick in the 22nd minute. 23 minutes into the game, Costin Babarada recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Iacob Vătăşel. Costin Babarada showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ionuț Petrea in the 27th minute of play forced FC Vlahuță's goalkeeper Mihai Rusu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Erdélyi SE Marosvásárhely getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Costel Vieru hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Claudiu Doinaș in the 47th minute of play forced Erdélyi SE Marosvásárhely's goalkeeper Iacob Vătăşel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Ionuț Petrea might have been able to make a better finish in the 51st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Mihai Rusu. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Ionuț Petrea ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 53rd minute, Virgil Cumpan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Radomir Czerwinski struck a weak shot in the 55th minute. Iacob Vătăşel didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for FC Vlahuță. In the 67th match minute, FC Vlahuță was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Radomir Czerwinski to maneuver through the defense. FC Vlahuță's Mihai Rusu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 71st minute of the match, managed to save FC Vlahuță from getting a goal against them. When Costin Babarada fell near the penalty area in the 77th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Vlahuță's protests and gave Costin Babarada a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to FC Vlahuță getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Mihai Rusu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-4. Ionuț Petrea hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match.
