The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Leontin Ilieș took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dudu Georgescu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some careless play in the Ninjas in Pyjamas defense, Codruț Podgoreanu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Leontin Ilieș. The Ninjas in Pyjamas fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Leontin Ilieș should have stopped the shot. After a rather tough play, Minerul Baita -MM-'s Eugeniusz Mnich got a free kick in the 16th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Minerul Baita -MM-'s zone, Sabin Bojonca stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Iordache Hirean came out of the goal and Sabin Bojonca tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Leontin Ilieș showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cédric Payen, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. Ninjas in Pyjamas's Leontin Ilieș played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dudu Georgescu in the 21st minute of play. 30 minutes into the match, Best Tek had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Iordache Hirean. Minerul Baita -MM-'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Best Tek was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-1. After 33 played minutes Ninjas in Pyjamas got a freekick which was hit by Edgar Heerdt. After recieving a nice pass, Minerul Baita -MM-'s Dudu Georgescu tried to score from far away in the 34th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Leontin Ilieș showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bolo Miner, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. After 39 minutes, Cornel Surdilă mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ninjas in Pyjamas and the Minerul Baita -MM- players grew even worse after the yellow card. Cornel Surdilă hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. In the 41st minute, Dan Bogdan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Leontin Ilieș took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cédric Payen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 47 minutes, Best Tek managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ninjas in Pyjamas's supporters crossed their fingers, but Best Tek was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The wind increased when Dudu Georgescu made the kick off in the second half. Best Tek's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Iordache Hirean read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 52nd minute of play. Rudolf Magnusson kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. In the 61st minute, Dudu Georgescu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 62 played minutes Ninjas in Pyjamas got a freekick which was hit by Sol Campbell. Best Tek might have been able to make a better finish in the 66th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Iordache Hirean. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Best Tek ran back to his position shaking his head. Iordache Hirean made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Best Tek in the 66th minute of play. Leontin Ilieș made a fantastic save in the 76th minute, when Codruț Podgoreanu sent off a good shot on target. If Cornel Surdilă had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Minerul Baita -MM-'s Bogi Miner was substituted for Vintilă Puișoru. Minerul Baita -MM- made a substitution. Xalo Camara replaced Cédric Payen. Xalo Camara sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Minerul Baita -MM-'s Bogi Miner in the 86th minute got a chance for a shot 86th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Leontin Ilieș was a little too slow when Dan Bogdan got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 94th minute. The score was now 1-3.
