The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. The supporters of PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN booed when UFC STEAUA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nelson Mendoza didn't get a good kick on the ball. PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN's Cristian Minteuan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Hermengildo Jobo in the 10th minute of play. 12 minutes into the game, Irinel Stănilă recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Ernest Obreja. Irinel Stănilă showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 15th minute, Leo Schuhmacher managed to get in a good position for a shot. PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN's supporters rose to their feet, but Leo Schuhmacher was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ernest Obreja breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nae Conta during the 18th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 18th match minute, PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nae Conta to maneuver through the defense. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Hermengildo Jobo in the 20th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Cristian Minteuan saved PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN from getting behind. UFC STEAUA's Therkild Prendorf was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Cristian Minteuan in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After 29 minutes PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Nelson Mendoza who took care of the corner kick. A nice corner shot did that Nelson Mendoza got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Cristian Minteuan quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. UFC STEAUA were awarded a corner in the 30th minute after PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Nelson Mendoza took the corner. After a rather tough play, PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN's Irinel Stănilă got a free kick in the 31st minute. After 32 played minutes PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN got a freekick which was hit by Irinel Stănilă. Cristian Minteuan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hermengildo Jobo, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. 38 minutes into the game, PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN's Leo Schuhmacher nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Irinel Stănilă made a kick off. After a rather tough play, PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN's Nicodim Epure got a free kick in the 53rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Karl-Ove Holm in the 57th minute of play forced UFC STEAUA's goalkeeper Ernest Obreja to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 58 minutes into the match, UFC STEAUA's goal looked a bit too open when Leo Schuhmacher came free, but Ernest Obreja reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Through an outstanding action, after 59 minutes, Cristian Minteuan successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. After 61 minutes of play, UFC STEAUA's Nelson Mendoza made it 4-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Cristian Minteuan was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Leo Schuhmacher had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 64th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The supporters of PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN booed when UFC STEAUA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 66 match minutes in a wonderful position. Corneliu Hurezeanu didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN's Cristian Minteuan got control of the ball when Emanuel Gheorghe tried to sneak it across the goal line. The PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
