But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Staf Van Essche couldn't finish the play. Brian Lenoir struck a weak shot in the 11th minute. Yvan Poets didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for De krokante kroketjes. Rafael Maria Van Meenen might have been able to make a better finish in the 24th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Sam Stuijckens. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Rafael Maria Van Meenen ran back to his position shaking his head. If Staf Van Essche had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dieter Haelemans got free with Yvan Poets in the 78th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 82nd minute, Jan Melkval hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Yvan Poets showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Staf Van Essche, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. Sam Stuijckens made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jesus Van Meenen in the 86th minute of play. In the 94th minute, Jan Melkval made a precise shot to the right of Sam Stuijckens. De krokante kroketjes's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-1. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. All Stars Gent fully deserved thier win.
