After 3 minutes, Leo Van Mechelen mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the YR Mechelen and the KV Schoonwater players grew even worse after the yellow card. Leo Van Mechelen hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, KV Schoonwater's Billy Rijmenams got a free kick in the 13th minute. KV Schoonwater's Luukas Schooters suffered a sore thigh after 16 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Joel Vlimmens's late challenge caught a KV Schoonwater's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Joel Vlimmens helped the player get up and apologised. KV Schoonwater's Kim Loozen was substituted for Luukas Schooters. Yanick Verschelde showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kim Loozen, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. 31 minutes into the game, Hector Raniers threw the ball into play from the sideline. YR Mechelen's Jozef Van Acker quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. YR Mechelen's Jozef Van Acker quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Hector Raniers, made in the 33rd minute of the game. Yanick Verschelde came out of the goal in the 37th minute to try and stop a shot by KV Schoonwater's Kim Loozen. But to his dismay, Kim Loozen quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Jan-Pieter Van Mechelen hit a great freekick 40 minutes into the match. Jan-Pieter Van Mechelen kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. 44 minutes into the game, Jan-Pieter Van Mechelen was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. YR Mechelen's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave KV Schoonwater the free kick. In the 45th minute, Jan-Pieter Van Mechelen hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 46th minute of the game. One of YR Mechelen:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of KV Schoonwater:s goal. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

If Miguel Van Mechelen had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jan-Pieter Van Mechelen kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. Yanick Verschelde took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kim Loozen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, YR Mechelen's Alan Wirinckx got a free kick in the 61st minute. After a rather tough play, YR Mechelen's Joel Vlimmens got a free kick in the 64th minute. In the 65th minute of the match Axell De Ketelaere shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Yanick Verschelde showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. After 66 minutes YR Mechelen's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Axell De Ketelaere who took care of the corner kick. KV Schoonwater's Axell De Ketelaere was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Yanick Verschelde in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. The throw-in from Hector Raniers in the 70th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by YR Mechelen's Jozef Van Acker. Hector Raniers made in the 71st minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by YR Mechelen's Jozef Van Acker. Tobias Smidts charged in rather forcefully in the 72nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Tobias Smidts the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to YR Mechelen getting a freekick after 73 minutes play. Tobias Smidts hit a great ball. Miguel Van Mechelen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 76th minute. Luke Scheerens tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jarno Jongbloedt in the 79th minute of play forced YR Mechelen's goalkeeper Yanick Verschelde to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luke Scheerens took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Miguel Van Mechelen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 82 minutes into the match, YR Mechelen's Miguel Van Mechelen sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Luke Scheerens narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 88 minutes into the match, KV Schoonwater's goal looked a bit too open when Miguel Van Mechelen came free, but Luke Scheerens reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 91 minutes of play YR Mechelen's Leo Van Mechelen was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. In the 92nd match minute, YR Mechelen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leo Van Mechelen to maneuver through the defense. The crowd rose to their feet as Kim Loozen kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Yanick Verschelde. That made the score 1-2 in the 96 minute of play. KV Schoonwater's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
