Gino Van Deijck showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cornel Ulici, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. Alex Pihl made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Abel Van Clijnebreugel in the 11th minute of play. A collision led to Fauna Utd getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Vic De Geutter hit a great ball. A collision led to SK Mons getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Peng Xu hit a great ball. In the 20th minute Leif Olofsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gino Van Deijck saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 24th minute Robben De Vlaeminck shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alex Pihl saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The crowd rose to their feet as Fauna Utd's Robben De Vlaeminck slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Alex Pihl. That made the score 1-0 after 27 minutes of play. When the match had gone on for 31 minutes, Abel Van Clijnebreugel took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Alex Pihl to make any attempt to save it. After a rather tough play, SK Mons's Şeref Erez got a free kick in the 34th minute. In the 36th minute, Robben De Vlaeminck ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Alex Pihl was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. 3-1 became the score in the 42nd minute when Leif Olofsson elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Alex Pihl took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Abel Van Clijnebreugel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 3-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Cornel Ulici made a kick off. Abel Van Clijnebreugel blasted a shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Alex Pihl having to make a save. Benoit Gijselinckx's late challenge caught a Fauna Utd's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Benoit Gijselinckx helped the player get up and apologised. In the 55th minute, Benoit Gijselinckx hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 59th minute Robben De Vlaeminck shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alex Pihl saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gino Van Deijck was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Alex Pihl showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Abel Van Clijnebreugel in the 93rd minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Abel Van Clijnebreugel's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Alex Pihl was relentless in the 95th minute of the game. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Fauna Utd had played much better football throughout.
