The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Jason Manaers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bernt Demets in the 4th minute of play. After 6 played minutes Minion Mim got a freekick which was hit by Kenneth Blanchaert. Dave Goorts kicked well hit freekick during the 10th minute of the match. 14 minutes into the match, Minion Mim's goal looked a bit too open when Andries Vleschers came free, but Kurt Clement reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Minion Mim getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Bryan Rummens hit a great ball. 19 minutes into the game, Arnout Labrouche was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Club Brugge's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Minion Mim the free kick. After 19 played minutes Club Brugge got a freekick which was hit by Arnout Labrouche. Kurt Clement showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Arnout Labrouche in the 28th minute of the match. Club Brugge's Arnout Labrouche got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. A collision led to Club Brugge getting a freekick after 37 minutes play. Andries Vleschers hit a great ball. In the 40thth minute of the game Bernt Demets who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Club Brugge's Jason Manaers was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 46th minute, Andries Vleschers reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Kurt Clement. The goal made the score 1-0. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Bernt Demets to make the kick off. Andries Vleschers charged in rather forcefully in the 51st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Andries Vleschers the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Club Brugge's Andries Vleschers got a free kick in the 52nd minute. In the 67th minute, Dave Goorts left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Club Brugge fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. Bernt Demets kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. Kurt Clement showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Arnout Labrouche in the 75th minute of the match. In the 88th minute, Fabien Rouvoet hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Andries Vleschers recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 93rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. There was no doubt that Club Brugge were the better team. Club Brugge's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
