After 8 played minutes Club Brugge got a freekick which was hit by Kent Van Lancker. In the 11th minute, Matias Calstermans hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jorn Preuveneer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rocky Verhaeghen, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. Jorn Preuveneer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jeff Van Den Wijngaert in the 23rd minute of play. Gunter Van Bets's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jason Manaers read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 27th minute of play. 32 minutes into the match, Club Brugge's goalkeeper Jason Manaers had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gunter Van Bets. Jeff Van Den Wijngaert charged in rather forcefully in the 33rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jeff Van Den Wijngaert the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Club Brugge getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Jeff Van Den Wijngaert hit a great ball. Jason Manaers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rudi Boegaert, who was totally free with the ball in the 34th minute. The supporters of Lions United booed when Club Brugge was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Andries Vleschers didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gunter Van Bets sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jacky Valkeneers charged in rather forcefully in the 40th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jacque Bracke made a kick off. When Gunter Van Bets came up free with the goalie in the 51st minute, the Lions United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gunter Van Bets couldn't finish the play. Gunter Van Bets's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jason Manaers read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 53rd minute of play. Jason Manaers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gunter Van Bets in the 54th minute of play. After 54 minutes, Gunter Van Bets made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Club Brugge's Jason Manaers tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. After 57 played minutes, Lions United's Jorg Coenens shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Jason Manaers came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Lions United reached it. When Arnout Labrouche came up free with the goalie in the 69th minute, the Club Brugge fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Arnout Labrouche couldn't finish the play. In the 72nd match minute, Club Brugge was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arnout Labrouche to maneuver through the defense. Jorn Preuveneer was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 93rd minute, Lions United's Gillis Heirremans seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Gillis Heirremans the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Lions United protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Gillis Heirremans had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 92nd minute of the game. One of Lions United:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Club Brugge:s goal. 95 minutes into the game, Jeff Van Den Wijngaert cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Jorn Preuveneer was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Club Brugge had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
