Jeff Van Den Wijngaert kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. After having played for 16 minutes, Fransesco Jenken managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SK Dreigoten's supporters crossed their fingers, but Fransesco Jenken was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Henk Geest came up free with the goalie in the 18th minute, the Club Brugge fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Henk Geest couldn't finish the play. After 22 played minutes SK Dreigoten got a freekick which was hit by Jacky Wauters. Henk Geest could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 25th minute of the match, but Jo Maerschalcx made a huge save. Jason Manaers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fransesco Jenken in the 28th minute of the match. In the 29thth minute of the game Fransesco Jenken who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Club Brugge's Jason Manaers was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 31st minute Fransesco Jenken shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jason Manaers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. SK Dreigoten's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Jacky Wauters in the 33rd minute. Jacky Wauters made a great header on SK Dreigoten's corner, it was just that Club Brugge's Jason Manaers managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 35th minute the ball was on its way in behind Club Brugge's goalkeeper Jason Manaers, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. SK Dreigoten's Sam Roelants got a good chance for a goal in the 47th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Sam Roelants made a kick off. In the 52nd minute Arnout Labrouche shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jo Maerschalcx saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Henk Geest in the 68th minute of play forced SK Dreigoten's goalkeeper Jo Maerschalcx to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 70th minute Fransesco Jenken shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jason Manaers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 74 minutes had been played when some careless play by SK Dreigoten's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Rocky Verhaeghen was slow to take the kick. During this time Club Brugge's players had a chance to rest. When SK Dreigoten's Fransesco Jenken in the 80th minute got a chance for a shot 80th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Club Brugge's goalie prevented a goal. Jason Manaers came out of the goal in the 82nd minute to try and stop a shot by SK Dreigoten's Sam Roelants. But to his dismay, Sam Roelants quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-1. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Club Brugge fans cheered their team off the field, for while SK Dreigoten had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
