Greger Åberg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 27th minute Åke Dalman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jens-Ola Fransson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Pihlberg in the 29th minute of play forced Hartlepool's goalkeeper Martin Munter to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Greger Åberg received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Jens-Ola Fransson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The Charlatans's Jens-Ola Fransson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Greger Åberg in the 35th minute of play. In the 36th minute, Edvin Högberg hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jens-Ola Fransson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Åke Dalman in the 37th minute of the match. 41 minutes into the match, Greger Åberg had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jens-Ola Fransson. The Charlatans's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Greger Åberg was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Jens-Ola Fransson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Greger Åberg, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. The Charlatans's Jens-Ola Fransson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Åke Dalman in the 46th minute of play. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Åke Dalman was the one to do the kick off. Jens-Ola Fransson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Greger Åberg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 53 minutes into the match, Greger Åberg dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Jens-Ola Fransson, 0-2. A hard shot 59 in the game by Åke Dalman from a close distance when the talented Jens-Ola Fransson managed to make a qualified save. The Charlatans's players were relieved. In the 64th minute, Sune Almqvist left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The The Charlatans fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-2. Åke Dalman's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Jens-Ola Fransson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 66th minute of play. Greger Åberg might have been able to make a better finish in the 68th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jens-Ola Fransson. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Greger Åberg ran back to his position shaking his head. 69 minutes into the game, Greger Åberg recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Jens-Ola Fransson. Greger Åberg showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-3. In the 72nd minute the ball was on its way in behind The Charlatans's goalkeeper Jens-Ola Fransson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. With a little luck, The Charlatans's Jens-Ola Fransson got control of the ball when Åke Dalman tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 80 minutes, Rikard Hake mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Hartlepool and the The Charlatans players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of The Charlatans booed when Hartlepool was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rikard Hake didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 85th minute, Greger Åberg got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 87th minute, Greger Åberg fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. Sune Almqvist hit a great freekick 96 minutes into the match. Hartlepool's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
