The supporters of Kronan booed when Smurfarna was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 5 match minutes in a wonderful position. Per-Arne Hammarström didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Robert Nyman came up free with the goalie in the 6th minute, the Kronan fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Robert Nyman couldn't finish the play. Smurfarna's Bertil Hammarbäck played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bernt Hellkvist in the 11th minute of play. Through an outstanding action, after 11 minutes, Bertil Hammarbäck successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The audience thought a goal was coming when Anders Vennersten got free with Bertil Hammarbäck in the 12th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Kronan were awarded a corner in the 14th minute after Smurfarna's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Robert Nyman took the corner. The corner led to Kronan's Torgny Grönlund getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. Robert Nyman might have been able to make a better finish in the 20th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Bertil Hammarbäck. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Robert Nyman ran back to his position shaking his head. 21 minutes into the match, Anders Vennersten had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Bertil Hammarbäck. Smurfarna's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Anders Vennersten was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. 36 minutes into the match, Smurfarna's goalkeeper Bertil Hammarbäck had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Bernt Hellkvist. Anders Vennersten received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Bertil Hammarbäck came out and tried to block the shot, but Anders Vennersten slotted it home off the left post making it 5-0 in the 37th minute. After 41 minutes of play, Kronan's Anders Vennersten made it 6-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Bertil Hammarbäck was left in no man's land by his defense there! Anders Vennersten took the ball and in the 45 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Bertil Hammarbäck. Bertil Hammarbäck dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 7-0. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 7-0.
Kronan's Casper Tunander was substituted for Anders Vennersten. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Bernt Hellkvist stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Michel Bergman kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. 54 minutes into the game, Kronan's Casper Tunander nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Bertil Hammarbäck made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 8-0. In the 57th minute Torgny Grönlund shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bertil Hammarbäck saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 60 minutes into the match, Bernt Hellkvist notched a goal, 9-0, to the right of Smurfarna's Bertil Hammarbäck. Bertil Hammarbäck was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a rather tough play, Smurfarna's Sixten Kjellberg got a free kick in the 63rd minute.
