With a little luck, New England Minas's Martin Markusson got control of the ball when Solomon Samuels tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 11th match minute, New England Minas was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Scottie Ciauri to maneuver through the defense. After 11 played minutes, Key Biscayne FC's Fermín Montes shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Martin Markusson came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Key Biscayne FC reached it. Rickey Joseph showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mete Ferro, who was totally free with the ball in the 13th minute. The supporters of New England Minas booed when Key Biscayne FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Drew Latham didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 76th minute the ball was on its way in behind Key Biscayne FC's goalkeeper Rickey Joseph, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. A well-hit corner resulted in Chris Cabezon heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. If Mete Ferro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Rickey Joseph made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mete Ferro in the 80th minute of play. Mete Ferro might have been able to make a better finish in the 82nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rickey Joseph. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Mete Ferro ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 82nd minute Mete Ferro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rickey Joseph saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 85 minutes, Scottie Ciauri mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the New England Minas and the Key Biscayne FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 92nd minute Mete Ferro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rickey Joseph saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 94 minutes into the match, Key Biscayne FC's goalkeeper Rickey Joseph had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Chris Cabezon. The Key Biscayne FC manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing New England Minas to win.
