Josef Carlisle kicked well hit freekick during the 14th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Atletico Patoruzu's zone, Ruben Romano stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Waldo Hills came out of the goal and Ruben Romano tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Tyrell Cochran kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Cedric Frazier's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Waldo Hills was relentless in the 16th minute of the game. In the 17th minute, Tyrell Cochran hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Shannon Marquez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jason Douglas, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. 23 minutes into the match, Charlotte FC's goal looked a bit too open when Marcelo Marcello came free, but Shannon Marquez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Jason Douglas fell near the penalty area in the 23rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Atletico Patoruzu's protests and gave Jason Douglas a yellow card for diving instead. Shannon Marquez came out of the goal in the 25th minute to try and stop a shot by Atletico Patoruzu's Marcelo Marcello. But to his dismay, Marcelo Marcello quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Waldo Hills made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cedric Frazier in the 29th minute of play. Shannon Marquez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Felix Plummer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Shannon Marquez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marcelo Marcello, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. After having played for 36 minutes, Jason Douglas managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Atletico Patoruzu's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jason Douglas was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 39 minutes Charlotte FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Marcelo Marcello who took care of the corner kick. After taking down the ball on Atletico Patoruzu's corner Marcelo Marcello fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Shannon Marquez quite easily take care of the ball. Shannon Marquez showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Luke Youngblood in the 44th minute of the match. After the first half Atletico Patoruzu were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Marcelo Marcello stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Cedric Frazier's late challenge caught a Atletico Patoruzu's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cedric Frazier helped the player get up and apologised. In the 51st match minute, Charlotte FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cedric Frazier to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Charlotte FC booed when Atletico Patoruzu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Javier Rodriguez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marcelo Marcello received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Atletico Patoruzu eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
