Armin Trabucco could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 3rd minute of the match, but Jarrett Rosenberg made a huge save. Jarrett Rosenberg took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Chandler Bing, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 10 minutes Cosmos Soccer Club's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Joseph Mahoney who took care of the corner kick. Joseph Mahoney made a great header on American Airlines's corner, it was just that Cosmos Soccer Club's Jarrett Rosenberg managed to reach the ball for a save. Jarrett Rosenberg made a fantastic save in the 16th minute, when Jonah Ryan sent off a good shot on target. In the 17th match minute, Cosmos Soccer Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ivelin Kúchev to maneuver through the defense. Rudolph Saunders was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 18 minutes into the match. In the 18th minute, one of Cosmos Soccer Club:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Cosmos Soccer Club. Jarrett Rosenberg had in the 20thth minute some difficulties stopping Joseph Mahoney's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Jarrett Rosenberg came out of the goal in the 20th minute to try and stop a shot by American Airlines's Joseph Mahoney. But to his dismay, Joseph Mahoney quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Chandler Bing in the 23rd minute of play forced Cosmos Soccer Club's goalkeeper Jarrett Rosenberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After a rather tough play, Cosmos Soccer Club's Ivelin Kúchev got a free kick in the 26th minute. Federico Maia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Lumír Vosecký tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jonah Ryan could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 34th minute of the match, but Jarrett Rosenberg made a huge save. In the 35th minute Chandler Bing shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jarrett Rosenberg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 42 minutes had been played when some careless play by American Airlines's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Grant McKay was slow to take the kick. During this time Cosmos Soccer Club's players had a chance to rest. An unexpectedly hard shot by Federico Maia in the 46th minute of play forced American Airlines's goalkeeper Lumír Vosecký to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Cosmos Soccer Club's Jarrett Rosenberg got control of the ball when Armin Trabucco tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Jarrett Rosenberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jonah Ryan in the 51st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jonah Ryan in the 53rd minute of play forced Cosmos Soccer Club's goalkeeper Jarrett Rosenberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cosmos Soccer Club's Jarrett Rosenberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Armin Trabucco in the 56th minute of play. After 60 minutes of play, American Airlines's Alexis Couch made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jarrett Rosenberg was left in no man's land by his defense there! The audience thought a goal was coming when Federico Maia got free with Lumír Vosecký in the 63rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
