Spectators: 157 (Terracing: 118, Seating: 36, VIP seats: 3) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Reinaldo Calado started the match with the kick off. If Manuel Fernandes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Manuel Fernandes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 9th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jorge Valério having to interfere. Renato Vargas made a fantastic save in the 12th minute, when Reinaldo Calado sent off a good shot on target. Sporting Clube de Gaya's Renato Vargas proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 14th minute of the match, managed to save Sporting Clube de Gaya from getting a goal against them. In the 15th minute of the match, Reinaldo Calado got a very nice opportunity to score, but Renato Vargas was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. 16 minutes into the match, Sporting Clube de Gaya's goal looked a bit too open when Altino Guerreiro came free, but Renato Vargas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Ponte do Carro booed when Sporting Clube de Gaya was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mustapha Hadji didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Sporting Clube de Gaya's Fredy Montero in the 24th minute got a chance for a shot 24th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ponte do Carro's goalie prevented a goal. Renato Vargas made an important save on a dangerous shot by Reinaldo Calado in the 25th minute. When Ponte do Carro's Reinaldo Calado, in the 26th minute, received a pass right in front of the net, it looked like a certain goal, but his shot went outside. A wasted opportunity for Ponte do Carro. Jorge Valério came out of the goal in the 29th minute to try and stop a shot by Sporting Clube de Gaya's Giovanni Colebinders. But to his dismay, Giovanni Colebinders quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. The audience was convinced that Fredy Montero's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jorge Valério was relentless in the 32nd minute of the game. Renato Vargas was out of position in the 34 minute of play, and Humberto Mascarenhas capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Humberto Mascarenhas really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. Fredy Montero sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 41 minutes of play, Sporting Clube de Gaya's Manuel Fernandes made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jorge Valério was left in no man's land by his defense there! Jorge Valério stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Fredy Montero's shot from short distance in the 44th minute. Ponte do Carro were awarded a corner in the 50th minute after Sporting Clube de Gaya's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Cristóvão Caetano took the corner. After taking down the ball on Ponte do Carro's corner Cristóvão Caetano fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Renato Vargas quite easily take care of the ball. The Ponte do Carro players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Sporting Clube de Gaya were winning 1-2.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Fredy Montero made a kick off. Manuel Fernandes's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Jorge Valério firmly grabbed it by the left post. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Reinaldo Calado in the 61st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Renato Vargas saved Sporting Clube de Gaya from getting behind. Jorge Valério stood somewhat misplaced when Fredy Montero came free in front of goal and shot 1-3 to the left of him in the 63 minute. Manuel Fernandes recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 65th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 68th minute, Ponte do Carro's Nuno Sanches seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Nuno Sanches the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Ponte do Carro protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Nuno Sanches had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. 67 minutes into the game, one of Ponte do Carro:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Ponte do Carro:s Jorge Valério showed great skill when he stopped Fredy Montero:s penalty. 71 minutes into the match, Dionisio Ramos notched a goal, 2-3, to the right of Sporting Clube de Gaya's Renato Vargas. Renato Vargas was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. If Altino Guerreiro had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Sporting Clube de Gaya getting a freekick after 77 minutes play. Tytus Wolniewicz hit a great ball. Altino Guerreiro struck a weak shot in the 80th minute. Renato Vargas didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ponte do Carro. When Aparício Linhares fell near the penalty area in the 84th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sporting Clube de Gaya's protests and gave Aparício Linhares a yellow card for diving instead. Aparício Linhares hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. Jorge Valério made an important save on a dangerous shot by Manuel Fernandes in the 86th minute. After 87 played minutes Ponte do Carro got a freekick which was hit by Filipe Poças. Renato Vargas took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dionisio Ramos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Humberto Mascarenhas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 98th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ponte do Carro's Jorge Valério proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 100th minute of the match, managed to save Ponte do Carro from getting a goal against them. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Sporting Clube de Gaya walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
