Hamilton Poças was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Serafim Salvado made a fantastic save in the 9th minute, when Gastão Cesário sent off a good shot on target. After 11 played minutes Sporting Clube V.R.S.A. got a freekick which was hit by Gregório Pereira. 17 minutes into the game, Gastão Cesário cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Serafim Salvado was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 20 played minutes Sporting Clube V.R.S.A. got a freekick which was hit by Jairo Anjos. In the 22nd minute, Sporting Clube V.R.S.A.'s Jairo Anjos ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Serafim Salvado. Serafim Salvado yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-1. Serafim Salvado stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Silvano Morais's shot from short distance in the 27th minute. Elias Rocha took the ball and in the 30 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Hamilton Poças. Hamilton Poças dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. Silvano Mesquita kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. In the 41st minute Silvano Morais shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Serafim Salvado saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 42 minutes, Silvano Mesquita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. SC Freiburg 09's supporters crossed their fingers, but Silvano Mesquita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Silvano Mesquita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hamilton Poças having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Silvano Morais was the one to do the kick off. Serafim Salvado came out of the goal and Manuel Valadão tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. With 78 minutes on the clock, Gervásio Pinto commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 77th minute of the game. One of SC Freiburg 09:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Sporting Clube V.R.S.A.:s goal. Gastão Cesário sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Sporting Clube V.R.S.A. fans cheered their team off the field, for while SC Freiburg 09 had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
