The long shot by Bradley Carr in the 8th minute really tested Brain Holt's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Zawisza Bydgoszcz's Tadhg Walker managed to work through Rangers FC's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Tadhg Walker dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. 14 minutes into the match, Logan McCubbin had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Brain Holt. In the 20th minute, Tadhg Walker left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Zawisza Bydgoszcz fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. The supporters of Rangers FC booed when Zawisza Bydgoszcz was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bragain Dimson didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 25th match minute, Zawisza Bydgoszcz was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Aban Mullan to maneuver through the defense. In the 29th match minute, Rangers FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Harold Fraser to maneuver through the defense. Fergus Fairbairn took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tadhg Walker, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Byrne Doyle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 43 minutes into the game, Zawisza Bydgoszcz's Aban Mullan nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Fergus Fairbairn made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Brenden Ramsey during the 45th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 46 played minutes Zawisza Bydgoszcz got a freekick which was hit by Brenden Ramsey. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Raymond Johnston to strike the kick off in the second half. Zawisza Bydgoszcz's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
