In the 18th minute Fariz Swee shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dale Lim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Albirex Niigata FC defense, Ryan Tan kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dale Lim. The Albirex Niigata FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dale Lim should have stopped the shot. Dale Lim didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Fariz Swee went, in the 28th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-4 was the resulting score. After 33 played minutes Albirex Niigata FC got a freekick which was hit by Clive Politiek. Dale Lim showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Shah Seng, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Jonathan Yi-Sheng hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-5.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Ali Choy stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Khairul Paine's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 51stth minute, Dale Lim skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Albirex Niigata FC's Dale Lim played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ryan Tan in the 60th minute of play. Khairul Paine could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 68th minute of the match, but Dale Lim made a huge save. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Azli Seah during the 69th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 70 played minutes Albirex Niigata FC got a freekick which was hit by Azli Seah. 72 minutes into the match, Albirex Niigata FC's goal looked a bit too open when Fariz Swee came free, but Dale Lim reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 74th minute of the match Redbourn AFC got a corner. Albirex Niigata FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Hermano Rodrigues ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Redbourn AFC's Hermano Rodrigues to fire away a dangerous shot which Dale Lim despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Ali Choy sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Khairil Lum kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. Dale Lim took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from John Chong, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ryan Tan in the 80th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Dale Lim saved Albirex Niigata FC from getting behind. The audience thought a goal was coming when Shah Seng got free with Dale Lim in the 83rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Albirex Niigata FC's Dale Lim proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 86th minute of the match, managed to save Albirex Niigata FC from getting a goal against them. In the 87th minute, Redbourn AFC's Ryan Tan ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Dale Lim. Dale Lim yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-7. After 91 played minutes Redbourn AFC got a freekick which was hit by Sean Sum. Shah Seng struck a weak shot in the 93rd minute. Dale Lim didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Redbourn AFC. When the match was over Redbourn AFC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Albirex Niigata FC throughout the match.
