In the 18th match minute, Sagene IF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Thorbjørn Sandøy to maneuver through the defense. Sagene IF's Olav Westad proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 22nd minute of the match, managed to save Sagene IF from getting a goal against them. After some careless play in the Dum Dum Boys Athletics defense, Ole-Einar Opsahl kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Kjell Rein. The Dum Dum Boys Athletics fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Kjell Rein should have stopped the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ole-Einar Opsahl in the 29th minute of play forced Dum Dum Boys Athletics's goalkeeper Kjell Rein to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gabriel Fedje hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. In the 31st minute, Ole-Einar Opsahl ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Kjell Rein was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. With a little luck, Sagene IF's Olav Westad got control of the ball when Ken Ernstsen tried to sneak it across the goal line. After having played for 39 minutes, Ken Ernstsen managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Dum Dum Boys Athletics's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ken Ernstsen was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vetle Bårdsen in the 41st minute of play forced Dum Dum Boys Athletics's goalkeeper Kjell Rein to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Magnus Auestad got free with Olav Westad in the 42nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The supporters of Dum Dum Boys Athletics booed when Sagene IF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Runar Nyvoll didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 48 played minutes Dum Dum Boys Athletics got a freekick which was hit by Magnus Auestad. After the first half Sagene IF were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ola-Conny T. Hansen to make the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Sagene IF's goal looked a bit too open when Ola-Conny T. Hansen came free, but Olav Westad reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Olav Westad took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ola-Conny T. Hansen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 69th minute, Runar Nyvoll managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sagene IF's supporters rose to their feet, but Runar Nyvoll was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kjell Rein breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ole-Einar Opsahl in the 73rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Kjell Rein saved Dum Dum Boys Athletics from getting behind. Olav Westad showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ola-Conny T. Hansen, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. After 77 minutes of play, Dum Dum Boys Athletics's Magnus Auestad made it 1-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Olav Westad was left in no man's land by his defense there! Dum Dum Boys Athletics's Kjell Rein proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 82nd minute of the match, managed to save Dum Dum Boys Athletics from getting a goal against them. 85 minutes into the game, Dum Dum Boys Athletics's Magnus Auestad nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Olav Westad made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-3. Kjell Rein made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Runar Nyvoll in the 88th minute of play. Magnus Auestad received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Olav Westad tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dum Dum Boys Athletics's Kjell Rein proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 93rd minute of the match, managed to save Dum Dum Boys Athletics from getting a goal against them. Kjell Rein was a little too slow when Ole-Einar Opsahl got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 95th minute. The score was now 2-4. Sagene IF's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
