In the 8th minute Antonio Nordby shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lucio Thomas saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Deportivo Pergamino's Hermengildo Aresti got control of the ball when Placido Bidari tried to sneak it across the goal line. After having played for 11 minutes, Eulalio Palos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. The audience was convinced that Antonio Nordby's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Lucio Thomas was relentless in the 43rd minute of the game.
