The referee ignored Papillon AC's protests and gave Juan Fernando Quintero a yellow card for diving instead. In the 4th minute, Juan Fernando Quintero hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Milton Friedman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Celedonio Saturnin showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Juan Fernando Quintero, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Milton Friedman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Celedonio Saturnin having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Olli-Pekka Suoste in the 26th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Celedonio Saturnin prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Celedonio Saturnin stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Olli-Pekka Suoste's shot from short distance in the 36th minute. Juan Fernando Quintero sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 47th minute Olli-Pekka Suoste shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Celedonio Saturnin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Andres Belasko made a kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Siro Menendo in the 51st minute of play forced Papillon AC's goalkeeper Eugenio Gartxot to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Juan Fernando Quintero might have been able to make a better finish in the 52nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Celedonio Saturnin. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Juan Fernando Quintero ran back to his position shaking his head. After some careless play in the CACYFA defense, Olli-Pekka Suoste kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Celedonio Saturnin. The CACYFA fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Celedonio Saturnin should have stopped the shot. The supporters of Papillon AC booed when CACYFA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Teodoro Gonzo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Milton Friedman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Celedonio Saturnin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Milton Friedman could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 72nd minute of the match, but Celedonio Saturnin made a huge save. After some careless play in the CACYFA defense, Juan Fernando Quintero kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Celedonio Saturnin. The CACYFA fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Celedonio Saturnin should have stopped the shot. The Papillon AC supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Papillon AC would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
