The supporters of The Pontiac Bandit booed when NEWELL´S OLD BOYS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gabriel Toli didn't get a good kick on the ball. Everardo Bortzaioriz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gabriel Toli in the 13th minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Alfonso Caradaro kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Apolo Richie. That made the score 2-0 in the 18 minute of play. After some careless play in the NEWELL´S OLD BOYS defense, Fidel Bazil kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Apolo Richie. The NEWELL´S OLD BOYS fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Apolo Richie should have stopped the shot. NEWELL´S OLD BOYS's Apolo Richie played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fidel Bazil in the 26th minute of play. After 32 played minutes NEWELL´S OLD BOYS got a freekick which was hit by Benito Handi. 35 minutes into the game, NEWELL´S OLD BOYS's Antonio Mundo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Everardo Bortzaioriz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-1. 38 minutes into the match, Gabriel Toli notched a goal, 3-2, to the right of The Pontiac Bandit's Everardo Bortzaioriz. Everardo Bortzaioriz was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 44 played minutes NEWELL´S OLD BOYS got a freekick which was hit by Benito Handi. In the 48th minute, one of NEWELL´S OLD BOYS:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for NEWELL´S OLD BOYS. The referee gave The Pontiac Bandit a penalty, 51 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Cosme Guilabertus, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of NEWELL´S OLD BOYS's Apolo Richie. 4-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Cosme Guilabertus was the one to do the kick off. Apolo Richie showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Elvio Maidana, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. NEWELL´S OLD BOYS were furious when Albano Asteri was red carded, 59 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. In a very dangerous position, a player in NEWELL´S OLD BOYS fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 58th minute. Penalty! In the 60th minute there was a penalty for The Pontiac Bandit. Cosme Guilabertus stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Apolo Richie. 5-2. Through an outstanding action, after 63 minutes, Everardo Bortzaioriz successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lino Senin in the 68th minute of play forced NEWELL´S OLD BOYS's goalkeeper Apolo Richie to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alfonso Caradaro received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Apolo Richie tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When NEWELL´S OLD BOYS's Gabriel Toli in the 72nd minute got a chance for a shot 72nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Cosme Guilabertus's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Apolo Richie read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 90th minute of play. Gabriel Toli received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Everardo Bortzaioriz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 99 minutes into the game, The Pontiac Bandit's Elvio Maidana nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Apolo Richie made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 6-3. There was no doubt that The Pontiac Bandit were the better team. The Pontiac Bandit's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
