Rolando Artizar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 3rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 8 played minutes La Ballenera got a freekick which was hit by Leonel Incendio. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sacha Boey in the 9th minute of play forced La Ballenera's goalkeeper Eulalio Jakes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 13th minute Sacha Boey shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eulalio Jakes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 15 minutes into the match, La Ballenera's goal looked a bit too open when Sergio Ixaka came free, but Eulalio Jakes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sacha Boey fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eulalio Jakes having to interfere. 23 minutes into the match, La Ballenera's goal looked a bit too open when Sacha Boey came free, but Eulalio Jakes reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Eulalio Jakes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Charles Darwin in the 27th minute of the match. In the 28th minute the ball was on its way in behind La Ballenera's goalkeeper Eulalio Jakes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 30 minutes into the game, Los Delfines's Alejandro Illan nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Eulalio Jakes made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Sacha Boey received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Eulalio Jakes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Sacha Boey came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the Los Delfines fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sacha Boey couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Los Delfines's Nunez Pacho got a free kick in the 36th minute. Serafino Llorienzo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the match had gone on for 40 minutes, Rolando Artizar took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Horacio Heriberto to make any attempt to save it. In the 44th minute, Alejandro Illan got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Eulalio Jakes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Charles Darwin, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
The wind increased when Charles Darwin made the kick off in the second half. After having played for 53 minutes, Charles Darwin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Los Delfines's supporters crossed their fingers, but Charles Darwin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 54 minutes into the match, Charles Darwin had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Eulalio Jakes. La Ballenera's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Charles Darwin was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alejandro Illan got free with Eulalio Jakes in the 57th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 59 minutes into the game, Charles Darwin recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Eulalio Jakes. Charles Darwin showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-3. Alejandro Illan received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Eulalio Jakes came out and tried to block the shot, but Alejandro Illan slotted it home off the left post making it 1-4 in the 63rd minute. In the 67th minute, Alejandro Illan left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Los Delfines fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-5. 70 minutes into the game, Charles Darwin cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-6. Eulalio Jakes was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 73rd minute, Alejandro Illan reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Eulalio Jakes. The goal made the score 1-7. In the 77th minute the ball was on its way in behind La Ballenera's goalkeeper Eulalio Jakes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 80 minutes, Alejandro Illan mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Los Delfines and the La Ballenera players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Los Delfines getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Alejandro Illan hit a great ball. In the 82nd minute, Rigoberto Jerardo got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Sacha Boey came up free with the goalie in the 84th minute, the Los Delfines fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sacha Boey couldn't finish the play. Nestor Gasteiz kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. In the 87th minute, Los Delfines's Alejandro Illan ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Eulalio Jakes. Eulalio Jakes yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-8. Sergio Ixaka recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 90th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Charles Darwin in the 91st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Eulalio Jakes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 94th minute Sacha Boey shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eulalio Jakes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in La Ballenera's zone, Alejandro Illan stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eulalio Jakes came out of the goal and Alejandro Illan tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Los Delfines's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
