The crowd rose to their feet as Pascual Austin kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Joaquin George. That made the score 1-0 in the 12 minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ismael Medina Bello in the 18th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Joaquin George saved Dep Colonia Avellaneda from getting behind. RIVER's Angel Comizzo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lorenzo Fe in the 22nd minute of play. 25 minutes into the match, Ismael Medina Bello had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Joaquin George. Dep Colonia Avellaneda's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ismael Medina Bello was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. 29 minutes into the game, RIVER's Ismael Medina Bello nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Joaquin George made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. Pascual Austin might have been able to make a better finish in the 33rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Joaquin George. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Pascual Austin ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 36th match minute, Dep Colonia Avellaneda was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Serafino Stanislao to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the Dep Colonia Avellaneda defense, Pascual Austin kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Joaquin George. The Dep Colonia Avellaneda fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Joaquin George should have stopped the shot. Joaquin George showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ismael Medina Bello, who was totally free with the ball in the 40th minute. Through an outstanding action, after 45 minutes, Joaquin George successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 48th minute RIVER were awarded a corner. Marcelino Afonso went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led RIVER's Marcelino Afonso to fire away a dangerous shot which Joaquin George despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 4-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Lorenzo Fe stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Ismael Medina Bello blasted a shot towards the goal in the 52nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Joaquin George having to make a save. After a defensive mix-up in Dep Colonia Avellaneda's zone, Pascual Austin stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Joaquin George came out of the goal and Pascual Austin tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 58 minutes of play, RIVER's Pascual Austin made it 5-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Joaquin George was left in no man's land by his defense there! Lorenzo Fe received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Angel Comizzo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ismael Medina Bello scored 6-0 in the 68th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Joaquin George, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The audience was convinced that Pascual Austin's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Joaquin George was relentless in the 72nd minute of the game. After a rather tough play, Dep Colonia Avellaneda's Serafino Stanislao got a free kick in the 76th minute. In the 79thth minute of the game Ismael Medina Bello who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Dep Colonia Avellaneda's Joaquin George was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 82 minutes into the game, RIVER's Pascual Austin nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Joaquin George made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 7-0. Ismael Medina Bello fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joaquin George having to interfere. In the 89th minute of the game Gustavo Umanov made a throw-in which Hilario Avellaneda played forward. Pascual Austin blasted a shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Joaquin George having to make a save. Ismael Medina Bello scored 8-0 in the 94th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Joaquin George, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 97th minute Ismael Medina Bello shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joaquin George saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. RIVER's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
