Manoel Barros was slow to take the kick. During this time Club Atlético Magallanes's players had a chance to rest. After taking down the ball on Club Atlético Magallanes's corner Manoel Barros fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Santiago Gau quite easily take care of the ball. After 12 played minutes Mainumby got a freekick which was hit by Rigoberto Santxol. Santiago Gau made a fantastic save in the 14th minute, when Manoel Barros sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Club Atlético Magallanes booed when Mainumby was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Victor Gelmiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. Victor Gelmiro took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 22nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Leon Oliverio. Club Atlético Magallanes's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Victor Gelmiro during the 22nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 39th minute, Club Atlético Magallanes's Taci Argün ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Santiago Gau. Santiago Gau yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. After some careless play in the Mainumby defense, Abelardo Intxixu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Santiago Gau. The Mainumby fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Santiago Gau should have stopped the shot. Abelardo Intxixu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 46th minute of the match, but Santiago Gau made a huge save. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-0.

Mainumby made a substitution. Isaac Urtungo replaced Rigoberto Santxol. In the 54th minute, Taci Argün left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Club Atlético Magallanes fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-0. Abelardo Intxixu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Taci Argün took the ball and in the 63 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Santiago Gau. Santiago Gau dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 5-0. The audience was convinced that Taci Argün's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Santiago Gau was relentless in the 83rd minute of the game. An unexpectedly hard shot by Abelardo Intxixu in the 85th minute of play forced Mainumby's goalkeeper Santiago Gau to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Taci Argün scored 8-0 in the 86th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Santiago Gau, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Abelardo Intxixu struck a weak shot in the 90th minute. Santiago Gau didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Club Atlético Magallanes. Santiago Gau showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Manoel Barros, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. Isaac Urtungo hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. Santiago Gau showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Taci Argün in the 94th minute of the match. Club Atlético Magallanes's Abelardo Intxixu got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Club Atlético Magallanes's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
