After a defensive mix-up in El ultimo's zone, Bernardo Fero stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Niceto Pere came out of the goal and Bernardo Fero tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 22 minutes into the game, Bernardo Fero lined in a short shot 3-0 behind a frustrated Niceto Pere. Benigno Niva was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 39th minute Benicio Felipillo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benigno Niva saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 40 played minutes El ultimo got a freekick which was hit by Santos Bertol. Niceto Pere was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 41st minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Alfonso Ted. After some fancy dribbling in the 43rd minute, Alonzo Berbiz managed to get in a good position for a shot. Waitakere F.C.'s supporters rose to their feet, but Alonzo Berbiz was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Niceto Pere breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.

The wind increased when Justo Clementi made the kick off in the second half.
