The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Louis Bow in the 11th minute of play forced FC TSKALSADENI's goalkeeper Arsen Sulaberidze to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 20 minutes into the match, FC TSKALSADENI's goal looked a bit too open when Jason Lynch came free, but Arsen Sulaberidze reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 22 minutes into the match, Louis Bow dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Arsen Sulaberidze, 1-0. Arsen Sulaberidze made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Austen Tanner in the 33rd minute of play. Arsen Sulaberidze was out of position in the 37 minute of play, and Louis Bow capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Louis Bow really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. FC TSKALSADENI's Arsen Sulaberidze played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jason Lynch in the 47th minute of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The supporters of FC TSKALSADENI booed when FC Shakhtar Donetsk was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 51 match minutes in a wonderful position. Louis Bow didn't get a good kick on the ball. Takha Abesadze hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. After some careless play in the FC TSKALSADENI defense, Louis Bow kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Arsen Sulaberidze. The FC TSKALSADENI fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Arsen Sulaberidze should have stopped the shot. 62 minutes had been played when some careless play by FC Shakhtar Donetsk's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Tsotne Kobiashvili was slow to take the kick. During this time FC TSKALSADENI's players had a chance to rest. The corner led FC TSKALSADENI's Tsotne Kobiashvili to fire away a dangerous shot which Donny Hooker despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Austen Tanner received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 65th minute. Arsen Sulaberidze tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 81st minute, Tony Froggatt left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The FC Shakhtar Donetsk fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 5-0. In the 87th minute Tony Froggatt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arsen Sulaberidze saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
