Hickey Dunne stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Florentin Gougeon's shot from short distance in the 40th minute. 46 minutes into the match, Valencia C.F.'s Florentin Gougeon sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Hickey Dunne narrowly saved just below the crossbar.

The wind increased when Donato Conrao made the kick off in the second half. In the 50th minute Donato Conrao shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Andoni Zubizarreta saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Prishtina FC booed when Valencia C.F. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Javi Guerra didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 68th minute, Valencia C.F.'s Lin Yang seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Lin Yang the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. Valencia C.F.'s Andoni Zubizarreta played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Boiken Juniku in the 86th minute of play. 88 minutes into the match, Florentin Gougeon dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Hickey Dunne, 0-4. If Florentin Gougeon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a rather tough play, Valencia C.F.'s Todd Kidd got a free kick in the 93rd minute. Valencia C.F.'s players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
