Ricardo Peña came out of the goal and Carmelo Sifon tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 7th minute, Club Deportivo Águila's Esteban Pérez seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Esteban Pérez the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Club Deportivo Águila protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Esteban Pérez had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. In a very dangerous position, a player in Club Deportivo Águila fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 6th minute. Penalty! When the match had been going on for 8 minutes, Real Madrid de Guatemala's Carmelo Sifon got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Ricardo Peña. Ricardo Peña was a little too slow when Carmelo Sifon got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 11th minute. The score was now 3-0. 13 minutes into the match, Carmelo Sifon notched a goal, 4-0, to the right of Club Deportivo Águila's Ricardo Peña. Ricardo Peña was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 17 played minutes Real Madrid de Guatemala got a freekick which was hit by Carlos Manuel Jeréz. Sílvio Luiz Goiano made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Libardo Fuentes in the 18th minute of play. Ricardo Peña showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Santamaria, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Carmelo Sifon managed to get in a good position for a shot. Real Madrid de Guatemala's supporters rose to their feet, but Carmelo Sifon was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ricardo Peña breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a little luck, Club Deportivo Águila's Ricardo Peña got control of the ball when Carmelo Sifon tried to sneak it across the goal line. Nelson Hernández's late challenge caught a Real Madrid de Guatemala's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nelson Hernández helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Real Madrid de Guatemala booed when Club Deportivo Águila was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nelson Hernández didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ricardo Peña had great luck who in the 35thth minute grab hold of the ball when Cristian Santamaria from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. 37 minutes into the match, Cristian Santamaria had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ricardo Peña. Club Deportivo Águila's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Cristian Santamaria was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-0. After a rather tough play, Club Deportivo Águila's David Braun got a free kick in the 40th minute. After 41 played minutes Club Deportivo Águila got a freekick which was hit by Leopoldo Carranza. Real Madrid de Guatemala's Cristian Santamaria got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 45th minute Cristian Santamaria shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ricardo Peña saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Real Madrid de Guatemala's Nicolás Guerrero was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Ricardo Peña in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Carmelo Sifon succeeded in the game's 48th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 6-0. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 6-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Libardo Fuentes was the one to do the kick off. 55 minutes into the match, Club Deportivo Águila's goal looked a bit too open when Carmelo Sifon came free, but Ricardo Peña reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ricardo Peña made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Santamaria in the 58th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 59th minute, Carmelo Sifon managed to get in a good position for a shot. Club Deportivo Águila's Ricardo Peña played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carmelo Sifon in the 71st minute of play. In the 71st match minute, Club Deportivo Águila was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nelson Hernández to maneuver through the defense. 73 minutes into the game, Real Madrid de Guatemala's Carmelo Sifon nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ricardo Peña made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 9-0. Ricardo Peña showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nicolás Guerrero in the 79th minute of the match. In the 81st minute the ball was on its way in behind Club Deportivo Águila's goalkeeper Ricardo Peña, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Ricardo Peña showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carmelo Sifon in the 84th minute of the match. Nicolás Guerrero's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ricardo Peña read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 87th minute of play. Ricardo Peña took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Carmelo Sifon, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A collision led to Real Madrid de Guatemala getting a freekick after 94 minutes play. Nicolás Guerrero hit a great ball. Leopoldo Carranza took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 95th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Sílvio Luiz Goiano. Real Madrid de Guatemala's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. If Carmelo Sifon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Real Madrid de Guatemala fully deserved thier win.
