The audience thought a goal was coming when Aldo Popolizio got free with Dieguito Reyes in the 12th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 12th minute, Udalaitz Vinuesa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 15 minutes, Gianluca Popolizio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Deportivo Popolizio FBC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gianluca Popolizio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Marcelo Aponte hit a great freekick 16 minutes into the match. A hard shot 23 in the game by Aldo Popolizio from a close distance when the talented Dieguito Reyes managed to make a qualified save. Atlético Grau Piura's players were relieved. Deportivo Popolizio FBC's Phelipe Escarza played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fabian Oterino in the 44th minute of play. The supporters of Deportivo Popolizio FBC booed when Atlético Grau Piura was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Martin Barreda didn't get a good kick on the ball. After the first half Atlético Grau Piura were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ascencio Belon to make the kick off. Dieguito Reyes was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Deportivo Popolizio FBC made a substitution. Herminio Maceira replaced Gilesindo Colombres. The supporters of Atlético Grau Piura booed when Deportivo Popolizio FBC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 60 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dieguito Reyes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aldo Popolizio in the 85th minute of the match. King Reyes hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. Marcelo Aponte's late challenge caught a Deportivo Popolizio FBC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Marcelo Aponte helped the player get up and apologised. In the 95th minute, Marcelo Aponte hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Deportivo Popolizio FBC were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
