Carlitos Belalcaraz's late challenge caught a Atlético Ourense's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Carlitos Belalcaraz helped the player get up and apologised. In the 11th minute, Carlitos Belalcaraz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 15th minute, Seve Dobale managed to get in a good position for a shot. Atlético Ourense's supporters rose to their feet, but Seve Dobale was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Virgilio Marcilla breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. A collision led to PERSPOLIS getting a freekick after 16 minutes play. Carlitos Belalcaraz hit a great ball. PERSPOLIS's Virgilio Marcilla played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Unai Calatayud in the 17th minute of play. If Gaston Delgado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, PERSPOLIS's Curcio Torres got a free kick in the 21st minute. PERSPOLIS's Virgilio Marcilla played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Indartsu Sarro in the 23rd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in PERSPOLIS's zone, Seve Dobale stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Virgilio Marcilla came out of the goal and Seve Dobale tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Carlitos Belalcaraz made in the 27th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Gaston Delgado immediately put the ball in play. After 28 played minutes PERSPOLIS got a freekick which was hit by Gaston Delgado. Valdo Salas hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. After 38 minutes of play, Atlético Ourense's Seve Dobale made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Virgilio Marcilla was left in no man's land by his defense there! Virgilio Marcilla made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Seve Dobale in the 42nd minute of play. When Gaston Delgado came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the PERSPOLIS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gaston Delgado couldn't finish the play. After the first half Atlético Ourense were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

PERSPOLIS's Virgilio Marcilla proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 54th minute of the match, managed to save PERSPOLIS from getting a goal against them. Seve Dobale blasted a shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Virgilio Marcilla having to make a save. Virgilio Marcilla took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Seve Dobale, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Atlético Ourense's Andoitz Riells quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Carlitos Belalcaraz, made in the 61st minute of the game. Seve Dobale might have been able to make a better finish in the 62nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Virgilio Marcilla. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Seve Dobale ran back to his position shaking his head. 62 minutes into the match, PERSPOLIS's goalkeeper Virgilio Marcilla had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Seve Dobale. Virgilio Marcilla was out of position in the 64 minute of play, and Seve Dobale capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Seve Dobale really showed his touch with that goal: 0-3. 68 minutes into the match, Atlético Ourense's goal looked a bit too open when Gaston Delgado came free, but Jerrold Valcarcel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Virgilio Marcilla showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rogelio Verdaguer in the 70th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Seve Dobale got free with Virgilio Marcilla in the 73rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 83rd minute the ball was on its way in behind PERSPOLIS's goalkeeper Virgilio Marcilla, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 87 minutes into the match, PERSPOLIS's goalkeeper Virgilio Marcilla had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Seve Dobale. When Gaston Delgado came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the PERSPOLIS fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gaston Delgado couldn't finish the play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Curcio Torres during the 90th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Atlético Ourense booed when PERSPOLIS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Curcio Torres didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match was over Atlético Ourense could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than PERSPOLIS throughout the match.
