In the 18thth minute of the game Ruud Geels who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Julias Rascals Apeldoorn's Pieter Beuk was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 21st match minute, Julias Rascals Apeldoorn was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hans-Cees Schattenberg to maneuver through the defense. Theo Zoontjens took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 22nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Pieter Beuk. Julias Rascals Apeldoorn's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. A collision led to Julias Rascals Apeldoorn getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. The supporters of Verwachting booed when Julias Rascals Apeldoorn was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adalbert Oblakov didn't get a good kick on the ball. Pieter Beuk made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ruud Geels in the 30th minute of play. 39 minutes into the game, Verwachting's Wilco Kosterman nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Pieter Beuk made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Pieter Beuk didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Wilco Kosterman went, in the 43rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ruud Geels was the one to do the kick off. Theo Zoontjens could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 64th minute of the match, but Pieter Beuk made a huge save. Pieter Beuk made an important save on a dangerous shot by Theo Zoontjens in the 73rd minute. After 76 played minutes Julias Rascals Apeldoorn got a freekick which was hit by Niels Borker. Pieter Beuk was a little too slow when Ruud Geels got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 77th minute. The score was now 0-3. Ruud Geels received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Pieter Beuk tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Theo Zoontjens blasted a shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Pieter Beuk having to make a save. 85 minutes into the match, Verwachting's goal looked a bit too open when Joop van der Schaaf came free, but Kees Veentjer reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Joop van der Schaaf had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Verwachting eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
