In the 3rd minute, Ágætis Byrjun's Ted Borker ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Ege Vecih. Ege Vecih yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. If Ted Borker had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Ted Borker could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 9th minute of the match, but Ege Vecih made a huge save. In the 10th minute Pavel Nedvěd shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Maraman Reitsma saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 11th minute, Laurens Erenstein hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 14 minutes into the game, Hieronim Literski cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Maraman Reitsma was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. With an all-out effort, Ágætis Byrjun's Ege Vecih threw himself towards the right post 19 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Laurens Erenstein, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. AC Pitt Bier's Pavel Nedvěd got a good chance for a goal in the 20th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 24 minutes, Wouter Spiering mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the AC Pitt Bier and the Ágætis Byrjun players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 24th match minute, AC Pitt Bier was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wouter Spiering to maneuver through the defense. When the match had gone on for 26 minutes, Laurens Erenstein took a quick shot and it went in 2-2 without a chance for Ege Vecih to make any attempt to save it. 29 minutes into the match, Ágætis Byrjun's goal looked a bit too open when Hieronim Literski came free, but Maraman Reitsma reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Maraman Reitsma took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hieronim Literski, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, AC Pitt Bier's Ege Vecih got control of the ball when Ted Borker tried to sneak it across the goal line. 32 minutes in the game, Ted Borker dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. Ege Vecih made a fantastic save in the 36th minute, when Harris Theisens sent off a good shot on target. In the 42nd minute of the match Ágætis Byrjun got a corner. AC Pitt Bier's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Robert Folkers ran over to the corner to take the kick. 47 minutes into the match, AC Pitt Bier's goal looked a bit too open when Ted Borker came free, but Ege Vecih reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Borys Sienkiewicz lost his temper 47 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. Ege Vecih had in the 49thth minute some difficulties stopping Robert Folkers's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. The first half was very even, with the score at 2-2 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Laurens Erenstein stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Ágætis Byrjun getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Harris Theisens hit a great ball. After some careless play in the AC Pitt Bier defense, Ted Borker kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ege Vecih. The AC Pitt Bier fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ege Vecih should have stopped the shot. Ege Vecih made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Laurens Erenstein in the 69th minute of play. In the 71st minute Albert Heebels shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Maraman Reitsma saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Albert Heebels sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ágætis Byrjun made a substitution. Arnout Boswijk replaced Ton Kort. Ágætis Byrjun's Paul van Mol was substituted for Laurens Erenstein. 75 minutes into the match, Ágætis Byrjun's goalkeeper Maraman Reitsma had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Pavel Nedvěd. 86 minutes into the match, Ágætis Byrjun's goal looked a bit too open when Pavel Nedvěd came free, but Maraman Reitsma reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. AC Pitt Bier made a substitution. Harry Vrieling replaced Martien Stühling. AC Pitt Bier's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
