Almir Carneiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Washington Bezerra, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. América-SC F.C. were awarded a corner in the 17th minute after Floresta Negra FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Fellipe Travassos took the corner. After 19 minutes, Nico das Neves mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Floresta Negra FC and the América-SC F.C. players grew even worse after the yellow card. Almir Carneiro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luiz Pitta, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With an all-out effort, América-SC F.C.'s Almir Carneiro threw himself towards the right post 53 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Luís Henrique, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. América-SC F.C.'s Carlos Carioca was substituted for Luizinho Silva. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Murilo Mello in the 70th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gaston Roderigo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 77th minute Luís Henrique shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Almir Carneiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Floresta Negra FC defense, Paulo Antunes kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Almir Carneiro. The Floresta Negra FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Almir Carneiro should have stopped the shot.
